Hailing from Essex, Morning Parade are currently one of the most hotly tipped bands for 2011. Look on the internet and you will see that every reputable music and style site across the board including Gigwise, Q The Music, Clash, i-D, Vogue.it and ASOS are tipping this youngWheels are George Runciman (Vocals/Guitar), Felix Howes (Guitar), Yacob Andersen (Bass) and Stirling Mitchell (Drums), a band of fresh-faced London boys who emulate Britpop cool and create credible guitar pop - think Blur, not Busted. Their influences span at least five decades and include David BowieTrains chequered 16 year career seems to be heading for a more definite and successful direction lately. Their huge hit Hey Soul Sister has managed a four month stay in the UK charts, a rare feat when one considers that nowadays songs hardlyLondon based grungers Japanese Voyeurs all set to roll into the grubby mitts of rock stardom following the release of their new album, which is yet to be named, later in the year.

After two number one albums, James Blunt seems to have found a formula for writing music that works, and stuck to it.Some voices are simply classic, some are simply ordinary but very few are simply instantly recognisable. To anyone who grew up with the seminal albums Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East or Brothers & Sisters the high tones of Gregg Allman fall into the instantly recognisable and it is great to hear those tones belting out some Blues classics on his first new album for 14 years.
New album from Plain White T's, and also a self confessed new direction for the new year, but still with their staples of romatic and cosy pop songs.AWOLNATION, the eclectic brain child of Aaron Brunos multifaceted musical endeavours originally hails from California, having previously fronted Under the Influence of GiantsThere is no question that tonights headliners The Coral are fantastic musicians and are probably one of the most underrated bands in the UK at the moment. Looking like a scally version of Westlife the boys perched themselves upon three stools front of stage and rewarded those lucky enough to get a ticket with a set of crystal clear acoustic bliss.Kicking of the year with a good Blues gig has always felt like the right way to go for me and seeing the reformed SALT at Pete Feenstras latest North London venue was worth waiting a couple of weeks for.

Grime seems to be heading in more commercial direction, and Roll Deeps latest release alongside Strictly star and solo success Alesha Dixon is no different. Take Control is a mixture of Roll Deeps usual urban underground sound with 4 of their MCs on vocals, however Aleshas voice distances the trackIf there was ever going to be a band who would change the future of how music is created it was going to be Gorillaz . When frontman Damon Albarn first announced that he was working on an album entirely produced on the ipad, many people were takenSince winning the Grammy for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album in 2003 with her album Sidebars, Eartha Moore has been busy. Ink Dry Blue is her third album though her firstInhaler is the debut single from Miles Kane formerly of the Rascals and on half of the Last of the Shadow Puppets. This brings very much to mind theBYOB is an interestingly complex artist, who is hard to brand with one particular genre as he combines elements of dance, indie, grime and electronica. Based on that description you could easily assume a rip off of The Prodigy or that this artist has simply flung a bunch of genres together with the hope that itThe album opens with a haunting harmonica wail and slow and deliberate piano and that voice your mind can see the tendons straining in his neck - and at first it sounds like Thunder Road revisited and then, as the track develops, you hear Dancing In The Streets a la Sproingsteen and the hairs on the back of your neck are standing to attention and your mind rocks back to the first time you ever heard The Boss and you remember just what made the E-Street Band the most powerful weapon of music on the planet. And for the whole 6 minutes 58 seconds of Racing In The Street you fully understand the meaning of the album title.
Wirral X Factor fans were treated to a showcase of talent at Birkenhead's Pacific Road venue last night as former contestants Cher Lloyd and Wagner performed to a young crowd as part of a Pop Factory Live show. One of the hardest things to do in music is to make you feel a sense of loss for someone you have never met and whose life didnt touch you in any way. The Beatles managed it with Eleanor Rigsby and Jeff Buckley somehow made Hallelujah a requiem for all the unnamed people lost over the years.
Some albums have a sound that is fixed in time and become very dated because of it but some are absolutely timeless and thankfully this is one of the latter. It really could have been recorded in 1966, 1978 or 1996 and could have been made in Carnaby Street or Detroit or a suburban bedroom in Swindon what a great way to start a new decade in the 21st century!
Crowd expectant and buzzing with questions this is BCCs second official gig, the first being last night in The Black Country (Wolverhampton).Having been given the privilege of witnessing one of only two UK gigs that Coldplay performed in 2010, with all money raised going to the homeless charity Crisis, it was alwaysSimon Millar, the frontman for the ever increasingly brilliant Forget The Down, held his birthday bash in style with full band on hand to perform a set of his favourite covers just before Christmas.
As a previous Misty's Christmas eve party attender, I had forgotten the hidden, quirky delights of such a profound and joy-enhancing performance from a truly wacky octuple.
The news of an 80s band making a comeback album is something we have gotten very used to hearing over the past few yearsAdam Ant walked into my life a long time ago and promptly changed it. I probably would not be writing this otherwise, and tonight when I stumbled in on Cartrouble I remembered exactly why.
Those of us who were lovers of the original Gong were all overjoyed when an incarnation that included Daevid Allen, Didier Malherbe and Steve Hillage came together for the album 2032 last year and toured it this year. The comeback single by White Lies sounds bigger than most other bands around. It has to after the success of their debut album and the signs look promising for their follow-up 'Ritual'.Close your eys and this could be a procession sung by adepts of an ancient order, their piercing eyes cutting the gloom while the two note trumpet and eerie vocal chanting, amplified by the pounding drumbeat slow and ponderous builds a feeling of impending majesty.
The Warehouse Project, Manchester ended its festive celebrations with a massive New Year closing party featuring sets from Derrick Carter and Dubfire.Giving away a live album is certainly a good late christmas present to your fans and Yeasayer have done just that. Well, sort of as 'Live at Ancienne Belgique' can be downloaded for free or you can pay for it in a name your price scenario similar to what Radiohead did with 'In Rainbows'.Martin Solveigs Hello is set to be one of the first big dance tunes of 2011. Shamefully overlooked back in June 2010, this MIA Paper Planes styled track is a huge tune, with very catchy vocals provided by Dragonette.
Mama Rosin play a wierd/wonderful blend of Cajun/Garage/Punk music from the heart of the Geneva Delta.
They have been around for a couple of years and their first two released albums showed a great deal of potential; wonderfully danceable and raw as hell but with great heart and no shortage of soul. So, 2010. No hover-boards, robots or flying cars yet, but look a little closer, and I'll bet you find all that good stuff we're getting used to is evolving and improving rapidly. Mobile phones, computers, internet... and Lostprophets. January 18th 2010 brings the release of their 4th studio album, 'The Betrayed'.As Peter Astor of The Loft announces they're about to play "Model Village" somebody in the audience shouts "I've been waiting for you to play that for years!"Lovely to hear a band that embraces the classic forms without either being retro or lost in the past.
JT & The louds are a Chicagoan ensemble and their music harks back to the great Soul-Blues that came out of Chicago for years but it is fresh and lively with a real brio and a helluva lot of skill.
When the skies are as grey and lifeless as a wet Wednesday in January you need something light and fruity to shake you out of your gloom.
You either get the pounding and massive blast of a Pendulum track or you hide under the couch and hope it all passes over soon. This is typical Pendulum huge beats, swirling keys and belted vocals. The tempo is furious and you get a mental image of a party at the heart of the biggestMiss Quincy is a raunchy and sassy young belter and she is probably right about your mama but I have to say that she really works for me!
Back about a thousand years ago Talking Heads took a sabbatical to enable David Byrne to explore his other interests and the two other originals bassist Tina Weymouth and drummer Chris Frantz put together Tom Tom Club to explore the funkier side of life. I was lucky enough to see Talking Heads in their prime and I can happily attest to the talents of Weymouth and Frantz.
